Entries are due by SEPTEMBER 1, 2008. Mail entries to Cheri Clark, 1486 West Cameron Bridge, Bozeman, Mt. 59718. Horses entered on or before or postmarked 9/1/2008 will pay no post entry fees for classes entered at the show. Post entry fees for the horse will be strictly determined by the postmark. Correct payment must accompany the entry form before the entry is considered pre-entered. Any class fees paid for a horse that is not pre-entered will have a post entry fee, even if your own horse was pre-entered. Show tabs are available if a signed open check is left at the office. Classes begin at 8:00 AM each day.

No refunds will be made on withdrawals from classes unless a veterinary certificate is submitted for horse or a doctor's certificate for the exhibitor to the show office within 5 days after the show. Stall fees, high point award fees and office charges are non-refundable.

ACS Classes for Arabians, Half Arabians will be conducted in the same manner as MSHSA Classes.

CHAPS ARE NOT REQUIRED in the ACS Western division. Please refer to the AHA Handbook and the USEF rule book for proper tack and attire.

CHAPS ARE REQUIRED FOR ALL MSHSA WESTERN EQUITATION CLASSES THAT REQUIRE A LOPE.

HELMETS MUST BE WORN IN ALL HUNTER TYPE CLASSES.

HIGH POINT CATEGORIES The following High Points will be offered:
High Point MSHSA Youth All MSHSA 17 & Under classes High Point MSHSA Adult All 18 & Over and Open MSHSA classes
High Point ACS Youth All Arabian/Half Arabian 17 & Under classes High Point ACS Adult All Arabian/Half Arabian Open and Adult classes High Point MSHSA Horse
All MSHSA classes except equitation. Must show in halter. High Point ACS Horse All Arabian/Half Arabian classes except equitation. Must show in halter.
Points will be counted based on the number of horses in the class, 1 point for each horse. The winner of Championship classes will get double points.

BLUE RIBBON CHALLENGE CLASSES

All MSHSA classes will be conducted and judged according to MSHSA and United States Equestrian Federation (USEF) rules (go to www.mshsa.org). Other classes will be judged by the rules in this book. Any unruly or uncontrollable horse may be excused by the judge, if the exhibitor does not ask to be excused.

Only one horse may be listed per entry form. The show charge applies to each horse. Two riders may be listed on the form. Please pay fees before the last class. A parent or guardian must sign the entry form for any rider under 18. All entry forms must be signed.

Western Control is a class for horses beginning reining maneuvers. Senior horses, junior horses, or green horses who have been ridden in shanked bits previously may be ridden 2-handed in a non-shanked snaffle bit or bosal. If a shank bit is used, it must be ridden one handed.

Horsemanship only to count in western horsemanship. Horses out of control will be penalized. Rider will be allowed to ride only one horse and a horse may be ridden by only one rider. If a shanked bit is used, the horse must be ridden one handed. A senior horse must be ridden with a shanked bit, unless it is green. A junior or green horse may be ridden two handed in a snaffle bit or bosal. Chaps are required.

First places at any MSHSA, USEF, or Breed association approved show prior to the current competition year determine the status of horse or rider. A maiden horse/rider has not won a 1st place. A novice rider has not won 3 first places. A limit horse/rider has not won 6 first places. A green horse is one who has never shown at an approved show as listed above.

There will be a $25 charge for a check returned for any reason. If the check is not made good within seven days after the show, it will be turned over to the county attorney for prosecution.

MSHSA has partnered with several breed Associations to award high point breed awards for open competition at MSHSA shows. The awards will be given at the Annual Meeting and Banquet. The breed awards are in addition to the awards already given by MSHSA. There is no charge to nominate your horse. Just fill out a nomination form, send a copy of your horses’ papers and your membership card in the association. You choose the classes to count. The horse with the highest number of points will win the award chosen by your association.
